The picnic

Picnic on the Great Wall

Upon arriving at the site, many guests are seeing the Great Wall for the first time. Sublime, astonishing, majestic, grandiose, overwhelming... The 250 guests are welcomed by Mr. Pierre Cardin and Montserrat Caballé for a historic picnic in the heart of the site.

Clouds of smoke rise from the guard towers, reminiscent of the time when the Wall was an active fortification. Silk banners designed by Daniel Buren flutter in the wind, restoring grandeur to the twice-millennial monument.

The guests rejoice in this new encounter, graced by the finest dishes. French linens and Petrossian products were also specially brought from France for the event.

At the end of the picnic, the Mayor of Beijing and the Minister of Culture of the Chinese government deliver a speech that pays tribute to the monument and applauds the initiative of this unprecedented international gathering.

A commemorative plaque will be unveiled, engraved with the names of each of the donors who participated in the preservation of the Great Wall.
