Born on March 21, 1950, in France, Daniel Vial pursued higher education in contemporary history at the Faculty of Vincennes, complemented by training in journalism and communication at the École Française des Attachés de Presse (EFAP). This multidisciplinary training laid the foundations for his versatile career.
Careers in Communication and Health
Vial's professional career began in the 1970s, marked by innovation in the field of medical and political journalism. In 1971, he played a key role in the creation of "Le Quotidien du Médecin," quickly becoming a leading newspaper for healthcare professionals in France. He expanded his influence by launching the German edition of the journal, "Ärzte Zeitung," in 1981.
In 1985, Vial founded the International PR Group, a communication company specializing in the healthcare sector. The company provided counsel to major pharmaceutical laboratories and played a significant role in medical communication in France.
His expertise in the healthcare sector also extends to philanthropy, as evidenced by the co-founding of the GlaxoSmithKline Foundation in 1998. In 2004, following the merger of his PR group with IMS Health, he became the Vice President of the new entity, IMShealth, thereby strengthening his footprint in the healthcare sector on an international scale.

Beyond his achievements in the business world, Vial has been deeply committed to the preservation of heritage. In 1980, he acquired and initiated the restoration of the Priory of Saint-Symphorien in Bonnieux, a historic site in Provence. This restoration, carried out with the assistance of renowned architects, revitalized this historical monument.
His passion for heritage also led him to China, where, in 1988, he was appointed President of the International Committee for the Preservation of the Great Wall of China.
